Earth-abundant transition-metal catalysts and reagents

In general, we are interested in developing (asymmetric) transition-metal based methods for the preparation of C–C bonds. However, instead of applying traditional transition-metal based catalysts and reagents, which are usually based on rare, expensive and often environmentally unfriendly extracted elements, we focus on the development of alternatives utilizing novel earth-abundant transition-metal catalysts and reagents. In this context, we are mainly working on the preparation of biaryls employing predominantly Ni-based catalysts either employing novel solid higher-order zincates or photo-redox catalysis.
